Julia Lynn squeezes Broadway, burgers and sightseeing into a whirlwind one-night trip.
Most people book a week in New York to see the sights. Julia Lynn gave herself just 24 hours.
The 56-year-old from Bedfordshire jetted off solo from London to JFK for what she calls a “dream trip”, fitting in Times Square, the Rockefeller Centre, Junior’s cheesecake – and the final performance of Sunset Boulevard on Broadway, starring Nicole Scherzinger.

Her £510 Delta return ticket got her to the Big Apple on 19 July, where she breezed through immigration and made it to her hotel in under 90 minutes.
Armed with just hand luggage and her travel mascot – Nigel the plush sushi toy – Julia set out to make the most of her whirlwind stay.
“The buzz, the lights, the energy – it was like stepping into a movie,” she told Hype Daily.
“I’m a massive musical theatre fan – I’ve seen nearly 200 shows – so this felt like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The ticket cost £200, but it was worth every penny.”
The head of business development says she spent £180 on a hotel and around £60 on food and extras. She calls the trip “super indulgent” but insists it was worth it.
“People called it mad, crazy, bonkers – but always followed it with, ‘We’re not surprised’,” Julia said.
“I think you really can only regret the things you haven’t done. What’s the worst that could have happened?”
It’s not her first short-haul stunt either.
Julia once flew to Buenos Aires for just two days, but says New York in 24 hours was her boldest challenge yet – and she’s already eyeing Tokyo for a weekend or even Dubai for a day trip.
Her Facebook post about the lightning getaway drew hundreds of likes and comments, with followers asking how she pulled it off.
For Julia, the answer is simple: stop waiting. “You don’t need loads of time – just the will to go,” she said.
“You’ll never regret going. You’ll only regret not going.”
