Deborah Mitchell reveals why fillers can harm young skin, how doom scrolling may cause wrinkles, and her tips to “turn back the clock.”
A celebrity facialist has warned that getting Botox and fillers too young could actually speed up ageing – and even cause long-term skin damage.
Deborah Mitchell, who has treated stars including Arlene Phillips, Lydia Millen and Queen Consort Camilla, says the growing trend of 20-somethings opting for cosmetic procedures comes with hidden risks.

“It’s not the right time to be turning to these,” the 59-year-old told Hype Daily.

“Having too much of these done regularly, over a prolonged period of time, can cause tissue damage, permanent scarring and even kill skin cells, which we need for producing collagen.
What you think may be making you look younger, is actually making you age faster.”
Instead, she recommends younger people use alternatives such as ‘Botox in a jar’ (Nettatoxin) while focusing on lifestyle habits that truly protect skin.
The everyday habits ageing your skin

Mitchell highlights three key areas that play a bigger role in skin health than many realise:
- Less screen time: Blue light from phones has a similar effect to sun damage, hardening skin and speeding up glycation, which leads to sagging and lines. The mental stress of doom scrolling doesn’t help either.
- Eat collagen-rich foods: Diets high in sugar accelerate ageing. She suggests citrus fruits, berries, avocados, egg whites, fish, chicken and bone broth to boost collagen, alongside antioxidants from dark chocolate, tomatoes and kimchi.
- Limit alcohol: Excess drinking harms the skin’s microbiome, depletes B12 and leaves skin dry, rough and uneven. “There’s a reason so many party people are paying the price now,” Mitchell warned.
How to “turn back the clock”

Mitchell advises daily exfoliation to clear “zombie cells” and age-boosting products tailored to each decade.
In your 30s, she suggests hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and vitamin B.
By your 40s, add serums to face and neck. In your 50s, switch to richer moisturisers with organic ingredients and vitamin C for hydration and plumping.
“Start small, go organic where possible and protect your collagen,” Mitchell said. “That’s how you really keep your skin looking youthful and turn back the clock.”
