But instead of meeting her at arrivals, he took the request literally — and flew the plane himself.
Photos shared by Southwest Airlines on Facebook captured Addison’s stunned and emotional reaction when she realised her father wasn’t just waiting at the gate, but in the cockpit.
One picture showed a tearful embrace between the pair, while another throwback snap showed a young Addison sitting with her dad in the cockpit years earlier.
Southwest captioned the post: “POV: Your dad’s a Pilot and you weren’t clear when you asked him to pick you up from the airport… In the dad move of the century, Captain John was able to pilot their flight home from their honeymoon, resulting in one of the best surprises we’ve seen!”

The heartwarming story has since gone viral, racking up more than 170,000 reactions on Facebook.
Fans praised Arvin’s gesture, calling it the “best dad move ever” and “a special treat from her dad.”
One joked: “He just raised the bar for her new husband!” while another quipped: “Sounds to me like he understood the assignment.”

Southwest also shared a wedding photo of Arvin walking Addison down the aisle — a moment now beautifully echoed by his surprise at the controls weeks later.
Based in Arizona, the proud dad has set the internet abuzz with what many are calling one of the coolest father-daughter moments ever captured in the skies.
