Concept AMG GT XX covers 24,901 miles at Nardò, shattering endurance and 24-hour EV records.
Mercedes-Benz has set a new benchmark for electric cars after its Concept AMG GT XX supercar drove the equivalent of the Earth’s circumference in just over a week.
The German automaker’s prototype covered 24,901 miles in seven days, 13 hours and 24 minutes at Italy’s Nardò high-speed test track – smashing its own “around the world” challenge record, previously set at eight days.

Two AMG GT XX prototypes pounded the 7.8-mile track for 3,177 laps, running non-stop day and night. Drivers, including Formula 1 star George Russell, rotated in two-hour shifts while rapid 850kW charging stops kept the car on track.

Russell praised the feat: “As an F1 driver, I’m used to pushing technology to its absolute limits – the Concept AMG GT XX really impressed me.
This technology will revolutionise the driving experience.”
The car also destroyed the 24-hour EV distance record, clocking 2,404 miles in a single day – more than 932 miles beyond the previous best.
Mercedes says the achievement proves its battery tech isn’t just about speed, but also long-distance endurance – a breakthrough for the future of performance EVs.
