A man was left stunned after discovering he had saved an impressive £5,000 by consistently dropping £1 coins into a Coca-Cola bottle for four years.
Kyle Greenwood, from West Yorkshire, shared a viral TikTok video showing the moment he emptied the giant bottle, which quickly gained more than 1.6 million views.
The 34-year-old factory worker said he began the habit at the start of the pandemic, unaware of just how much it would grow over time.
“I originally thought the money would go toward a car or a holiday, but as the total increased, I decided to put it toward a home for me and my partner,” Kyle told Hype Daily.
Staying disciplined wasn’t easy, he admitted, but he refused to give in to the temptation to spend any of it.

“Many times I thought about using some of the coins, but I stayed focused on my goal of saving for a deposit. My grandad gave me the bottle, and I made it my mission to fill it completely,” he said.
In the video, set to Abba’s iconic song Money, Money, Money, Kyle is seen pouring the coins onto his bed before transferring them into several shopping bags.
He then loads the bags into a suitcase and heads to his local NatWest branch to count them.
Kyle and his girlfriend Cat made guesses before counting – Kyle predicted £4,651 while Cat guessed £4,855. After feeding the coins into a counting machine, the final total reached an incredible £5,005.20.
The video has racked up more than 69,000 likes and 1,500 comments.
One viewer joked, “That’s enough to buy a Freddo these days.”
Another added, “My trust issues would’ve made me count every coin before using the machine.”
A third commented, “That’s a couple of holidays right there!”

According to Zoopla, the average house deposit in the UK sits around £22,500 – but for Kyle, his bottle of coins marks a meaningful start toward home ownership.
Offering advice to others, he said, “My biggest tip is to just start saving. It’s easy to overthink or delay, but if you start small, it builds up faster than you expect. For me, it all started with just a single £1 coin.”
