The Titanic star once owned the rare stilted property, designed by architect Barrie Briscoe, between 1998 and 2001.

The Oscar-winning actress bought The Pole House in Angarrack, Cornwall, in 1998, shortly after her breakout role in Titanic.

She kept it as a retreat until 2001, drawn to its striking design by renowned architect Barrie Briscoe.
Constructed from birch, pine, cedar and American redwood, the property stands on towering Douglas fir stilts, giving it the appearance of a treehouse.
Traditional Japanese Pole Houses, or Kura, are known for their elevated wooden structures, designed both for practicality and harmony with nature.
Briscoe, who died in 2010, designed only five of these distinctive homes during his career, three of which were built in Cornwall.
Inside, the open-plan living room features a dramatic double-height vaulted ceiling with exposed beams and timber poles.
The space combines a sitting area and kitchen centred around a wood-burning stove, while two bedrooms sit toward the rear.
Upstairs, the entire first floor is given over to the master suite, complete with an en suite bathroom.
The lower level has its own external entrance and functions as a self-contained apartment, complete with a Japanese bath.
Outside, a timber bridge links the main living areas to landscaped gardens, while a rear staircase leads to a wraparound deck.
Current owners Rob and Heather Pavis, who have lived there for nearly a decade, described the property as both beautiful and practical.
“Having lived in a traditional timber-framed house in Japan, it was our dream to find a home with similar qualities,” Rob explained. “We were incredibly lucky to discover this Pole House near St Ives.”
Savills Cornwall, who are handling the sale, called the home “a rare gem” with architectural significance and an enviable location close to the county’s stunning coastline.
