German Bionic’s Apogee ULTRA aims to transform physical labour, from warehouses to healthcare, with strength, adaptability and smart tech.
A robotic exoskeleton designed to ease the strain of physical jobs and support an ageing workforce has been unveiled, boasting the ability to lift up to 80lbs (36kg).
The Apogee ULTRA, created by Berlin-based tech company German Bionic, is a wearable exosuit that wraps around the torso, from the neck down to the hips.

It provides extra lifting power and “active walking support,” reducing the effort of walking six miles to the equivalent of five.
Marketed as the world’s most powerful production exoskeleton, the device is aimed at industries such as logistics, construction, healthcare and manufacturing.

German Bionic says it could prove especially useful for medical staff, who often face the physical challenge of lifting patients.
The Apogee ULTRA doesn’t just offer muscle support. It comes with an app that tracks steps, weight lifted and usage time, giving users detailed performance data.
While the price of the latest model hasn’t been disclosed, the company’s lower-tech version currently retails at around £8,120 ($9,900).

German Bionic describes the Apogee ULTRA as “the strongest and most intelligent exoskeleton to date,” adding that it is designed to “deliver safer, healthier, and more inclusive workplace environments while addressing critical social and demographic challenges such as labour shortages and an ageing workforce.”
By combining cutting-edge strength, adaptability and data-driven insights, the Apogee ULTRA looks set to change how physically demanding jobs are done — and who can do them.
