Carmie Sellitto tested the viral Japanese fruit and was stunned by its sweetness and lack of seeds.
A London TikToker has gone viral after splashing out £175 on a square-shaped watermelon – and declaring it the “best” he’s ever eaten.
Carmie Sellitto, 26, who has 1.2m followers, bought the gold-ribbon-wrapped fruit to see if it lived up to the hype.

At first, he was sceptical about the steep price tag, joking it might be because of its unusual colouring, which he compared to Neapolitan ice cream.
But after slicing into it, Carmie was floored.

“Wow, this is good,” he said in his video.
“Look how juicy it is! This is actually the best watermelon I’ve ever eaten in my life.”
He showed juice pouring out as he tipped it upside down, adding:
“It tastes so much sweeter than an actual watermelon and has barely any seeds. Maybe that’s what you’re paying all this money for. Easy 10 out of 10.”
Square watermelons are grown in Japan and are typically only found in specialist Asian supermarkets.
Carmie’s review, which racked up 18,000 likes, divided viewers.
Another joked: “It looked the same as a £2 one from Aldi.”
One wrote: “There isn’t a reason to pay 175 for a watermelon.”

Some fans even questioned why he was biting into the outer edge of the fruit, to which he replied:
“For £175 I’m eating everything.”
It’s not the first time Carmie has tried pricey produce.
He previously reviewed Britain’s most expensive coffee – a £265 cup – but admitted it tasted no different to a £3 brew.
