Ross Moulton recalls working with Sean Connery, Elizabeth Taylor and Cubby Broccoli during her Hollywood years.
A 92-year-old woman living in a Norwich care home has revealed her extraordinary past role in shaping two global icons – James Bond and Fred Perry.
Ross Moulton, now a resident at Daisy Hill Court, shared how she once worked as a secretary at Warwick Films in the 1960s, typing the original script for Dr No – the very first Bond movie.

The film launched the franchise and catapulted Sean Connery to stardom.
“I remember him arriving for an interview in a worn suit and barely-there pair of shoes,” Ross recalled.
“But he still had that undeniable star quality.”

Ross also remembers seeing Elizabeth Taylor at 9am in the company’s private theatre – makeup-free yet still “absolutely beautiful.”
She even served tea to Oscar-winning actor Ray Milland, who joked about her petite height, prompting her witty retort: “What’s the snow like on top?”
But her influence didn’t stop at film. Before her Hollywood stint, Ross worked for a wool merchant near London’s Golden Square, where she met Wimbledon champion Fred Perry.

She helped test the durability of fabric for his first shirts, washing samples 40 times to ensure their quality.
Those shirts went on to become the now-iconic Fred Perry line.
“I still see people wearing Fred Perry shirts, and it makes me smile,” she said.
Ross later lived in Singapore with her Royal Navy husband before settling in Bexhill-on-Sea.

Today, she enjoys life at Daisy Hill Court, playing cards and chess, and says she has found a new sense of belonging.
Reflecting on her life, Ross said: “Embrace the opportunities that come your way, even if they seem daunting.
After all, it was a chance encounter and a leap of faith that led to a career among Hollywood stars and cultural icons.”
